Chautauqua Park

Through this photography project, I chose to photograph and capture the historical significance of the preserved buildings of Chautauqua Auditorium, the dining hall, cottages, and the park's landscape, showing how it is possible to preserve beautiful and historical sites if one continues to care for them. For the final project, I decided to walk around Chautauqua and test different camera angles, techniques, and styles by capturing the landscape and the buildings. I chose to capture close-up images, depth of field, low angles, and horizontal and vertical pictures. This helped me show Chautauqua through my eyes and how I view it. Through this new set of pictures, I tried to capture the peaceful and adventurous essence Chautauqua still brings to its visitors today. From hiking to graduation pictures to picnics and eating at the dining hall. Connecting back to the preservation of this historical site, it shows how important it is to keep caring for and maintaining the land for visitors to keep enjoying the sights and everything the park has to offer for generations to come. With my images, the close-up images reveal the details of the park such as the beautiful gardens and flowers. While the shallow depth of field images show the park and buildings from different perspectives. Low angles provide another unique perspective, highlighting the buildings. Within the horizontal images, they show the vast landscape and the Flatirons along with the vertical images that are more creative. The purpose of taking these photographs is to add them to my website and show present-day Chautauqua. Chautauqua Park carries a rich historical significance and remains a popular destination for visitors in Boulder. It keeps its history alive and how the staff has worked hard with its conservation efforts to continue to show its historical significance by preserving the buildings and land.
